Parish Councils and interested local community groups are invited to attend a virtual event on how we can all act locally to make a real difference to the environment.

We are delighted to confirm the agenda below, along with details of how to join the event.

🌳Councillor Clive Ward, Chair of the Test Valley Association of Parish and Town Councils🌳

Welcome and opening of the event.

🌳Test Valley Borough Council Countryside Team🌳

Charlotte Rimmer and Daisy Kennard will be talking about urban meadow creation and ‘No Mow May’, as well as engaging schools through pond dipping and their work with community groups.

🌳Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust🌳

Maggie Shelton will discuss how the Trust works to encourage biodiversity in waterways.

🌳The Woodland Trust🌳

Bridget Fox will be talking about all things trees, including how to get involved in the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ scheme to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

🌳Greener Villages🌳

Greener Villages has just been nominated for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust ‘Wilder Group of the Year’. Susan Hasselmann will be joining us to give an overview of the group and talk about how they put community engagement at the heart of their approach.

There will also be an opportunity to find out about a range of grant funding available and how to access further sources of information, as well as helping to determine the topics for further events in future.
